San Diego County27 September 2001

Susan gave us some information from the morning news today: "San Diego has had no rain since April." Could that be true? I haven't noticed it raining much, except when I've been away in Maine, Puerto Rico, and the US Virgin Islands. We had plenty of rain there. Everything seems about as green as usual around here, but that's because we import about 90% of our water from other regions of the country.

I recently found this nice introductory website about San Diego County. It's about the same size as Connecticut. The population is concentrated on the west side. Some say that San Diego is isolated, because it's bounded on all four sides: on the north by Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, on the east by the desert, on the south by Mexico, and on the west by the Pacific Ocean.
