Update at 12:30 pm, PST, 11/4/2001:
Sue ran the New
York City Marathon! Her official
time was 4 hours, 8 minutes, 14 seconds. Sue finished in 8,670th
place out of 30,000 runners and 1,533rd among the more than 9,000
women. I just talked with her on the phone. She was very happy and said she
felt good most of the way. Her pace slowed a bit after the Queensboro Bridge,
where there are a few hills. It was a beautiful day in
New York. I'll post a photo of Sue running the race as soon as I get one.

Update at 11:40 am, PST, 11/4/2001: I've been getting emails from the Marathon website, telling me where Sue is in the race. They're about 1 hour delayed. So far, I've gotten updates for the 10k and half-marathon markers. At 10k, she was running a 9:03 minutes per mile pace. At the half-marathon, it was 9:04 minutes per mile. She's very steady. The image above is the "Real Time Tracker" page that updates her progress automatically in real time on the web.
Tom called to say that they have seen her pass the 24-mile marker as of 2:30 p.m. EST. Looks like she might run the whole thing in less than 4 hours!

Original Text, October 2001: I decided to post this page on Oct 9, a few weeks early, so that I wouldn't forget Sue's marathon. (Yes, it's my sister's marathon. Any other questions?)
She'll be running the NYC marathon and we'll be able to track her on the web as number F2544. Click on the left photo to get to the NYC Marathon site. Perhaps after the race has been run, I'll be able to change the picture to one of Sue running through that ribbon they have across the finish line.
