Scott in Matt's neck brace

24 April 2002

Wednesday is always a busy day for me. I bring Matt to school at 7:00-7:15 or so, then head for work at SAIC, sometimes stopping at Starbucks on the way. It's fun going to the Rancho Penasquitos Starbucks because I usually see somebody I know. Today I saw one of the guys who played basketball with me on Sunday.

I work at SAIC from 8-5, but I skip lunch and leave a little early on the days when I teach, so I can make it to class on time. On Wednesdays, the class goes from 5:30 to 7:00, and is followed by a lab from 7:00 to 10:00 pm. When I get home, I usually catch up on emails and websites, then collapse into my bed. Needless to say, I sleep well.

Oh, the picture? Well, this is Scott trying on Matt's neck brace, a few days after Matt was allowed to take it off. Matt wore this (without the shirt underneath) for about 8 weeks during the months of September and October after breaking his neck on the day of our 18th anniversary. He couldn't get it wet or take it off at all during the recovery period. It has a similar white plate on the back side.
