June 2002 I bought a 1-year parking pass for California State Parks yesterday for $35. The nearest such park is Torrey Pines State Park, which is just a mile or so away from my workplace. It's a coastal forest of Torrey pine trees, beach cliffs, and coastal shrubs. The Torrey Pine is one of the rarest trees in the world. The park is a wonderful place for a noontime walk.
