January 2003
We took advantage of a -1.7' low tide today with a tidepooling
outing at Bird Rock. Scott and Candace show off a tiny octopus. We found
more chitons than usual, plus a few brittle stars, urchins, top snails,
keyhole limpets, snails, sponges, and a sea cucumber, among other invertebrates,
fish, shrimp, hermit crabs, birds, algae, sea grass, and a spark plug!
What are your New Year's resolutions? Send them to me
in an email and I'll post them here, so we can check them 365 days from
now.
