On the way from Terminal C to Terminal B at O'Hare Airport
in Chicago, I always enjoy the lights and tinkly sounds of Helmut Jahn's
tunnel, with lights above shimmerring back and forth in rainbow colors
as people stand or run along the moving walkway. The repeating, echoing
voice warning "The moving sidewalk is about to end. Please look
down." is sprinkled with surreal chimes and bells. As usual,
my incoming flight was late and when I got to my gate everyone was already
on the plane. I couldn't have moved much faster and was glad I packed
light.
