This photograph appeared on the front of our college magazine a few months ago. It's the science department faculty and staff on the site of the future science building, which is now being constructed. For the 13 years I've been at Miramar, the chemistry and biology teachers have shared two labs. I use the fact that our class follows a microbiology lab (where students study bacteria) to my advantage during the safety orientation at the beginning of each semester, encouraging students to wash their hands and not eat in lab.
