We attended our last middle school band concert tonight, at least the last one in which we'll have middle schooler playing. Scott played a nice solo ("Malagueña") in the jazz band portion of the concert and was named the Outstanding Jazz Musician of the year by the conductor. Until recently, Jay had been Matt's trumpet teacher. He's also one of the main reasons our kids are so interested in and so good at music. Jay played a beautiful flugelhorn solo ("When You Wish Upon a Star") tonight in honor of the 8th grade class, who will be moving on to high school next year.
