I like taking photos in lab these days. This is our first experiment,
where the students learn about using balances and volumetric equipment
for making measurements. What some of them don't realize is that they're
really learning about how to record their data to show not only the quantity
of the measurement, but also the precision of the instrument they used
for the measurement, by recording it with the proper number of signficant
digits. Precision and accuracy are concepts quite dear to chemists, and
quite annoying and troublesome to new many chemistry students.
I can tell already that this will be a good class. The students participate
and ask questions in class. I like that.
