August 2003
After a nice run in the morning (the "Beach to Beacon 10k"
in Portland), we did the usual things that we do in Maine, for most of
the day: playing hearts on the porch, throwing frisbees on the beach,
taking a walk down to the creek. In the evening, we went to the Illumination
Night concert outside of Jakeman Hall in downtown Ocean Park, then, thanks
to Tom's inspiration and persperation, we participated in the Illumination
Night festivities by making our house into a giant lantern. Most people
were bewildered by Tom's effort, making comments like, "What kind
of window treatment are they using?" Fortunately, an enlightened
few people appreciated our unique contribution to the celebration.
