The scene at Hermosa beach was at once chaotic and peaceful (rollover) as the sun set over the Pacific. Near the water, people were walking, boogie-boarding, practicing tai chi, or just sitting. Closer to the boardwalk, games of volleyball and flag football kicked up the sand into the night.

I spent the night in a nearby hotel between my two days working at the Air Force base up here in LA. The workdays were productive. This evening the weather was perfect, with a light breeze, temperatures in the 70s, and clear skies providing a bright green flash as the sun plunged into the ocean. (Unfortunately, my attempt to photograph the flash missed by a few seconds.)
