One thing the kids do while they're practicing marching
and not playing is to arrange their instruments neatly on the ground.
It's pretty smart because it keeps them where everybody can find them,
and makes them more noticeable, which reduces the chance they'd get stepped
on (similar to the way a school of fish is more noticeable than a single
fish). I have no idea how they tell the instruments apart when they come
back to retrieve them, especially these things! Is there anything unique
about any of these?
Sometimes the kids make nice patterns with their instruments
(rollover).
