September 2003
Now this was worth the walk, a 1-mile hike up 600 feet
along and through a dry, dormant volcano crater to the top of Waikiki,
the Diamond Head lookout. The 360-degree view of O'ahu is the best view
I've ever seen, and I've seen some good ones.
This has been a day of hikes and photography. Before
Diamond Head I walked around Waikiki for three hours in the morning. Afterwards,
I toured Hanauma Bay and the Windward Coast again. I've taken enough photos
today alone to keep this website going for the next eight or nine months.
For now, though, you'll only see this one.
