October 2003
I got a good view of the persistent fires this afternoon
from the plane. Fortunately for city residents, the smoke blew toward
the east today, as the high pressure system moved across the country allowing
sea breezes to clear things up a bit. Smoke levels seem more like they
were on Monday, and don't seem so bad, after yesterday's darkness. We
even opened our windows at home.
Schools and colleges are cancelled for the rest of the
week due to the poor air quality.
