Susan's request on her birthday was to visit Dog Beach with Bayley. So, while Matt was rehearsing for Esperanza, we drove down to the mouth of the San Diego river in the community of Ocean Beach to the park where dogs run free. This dog park is larger than the one we've visited in Del Mar. Temperatures dropped 10 degrees or more as we walked from the parking lot into the fog and toward the ocean. Inland along the river the sun peaked through and warmed us up a little.

In the evening, with Matt back home, we ordered pizza, watched a DVD (Pirates of the Caribbean), and had some birthday cake and ice cream.
