Since I'll be teaching this Wednesday at the same time Matt's jazz band will be playing their concert, I decided to skip the "Band Boosters" meeting and stand around watching the jazz band rehearse for an hour and a half instead. It was so worth it, and not just because the booster meetings are usually pretty dull. These kids can play. They sounded great. Maybe I'll miss a fundraiser or two, but I'm happy to have seen and heard this band.

On Saturday, they'll be going to a jazz festival at Cal State Fullerton, in Orange County. Here they are practicing with their wah-wah (plunger) mutes.
