Scott and I went to the Scripps Ranch Library to hear
the Velvet Bones in concert. Being the tromboinist about town that
he is, Scott knew three
of them personally. The lady on the left is Scott's private lesson teacher.
The man on the right is a band director at a nearby high school and the
leader of the community band that I sometimes play in. We've talked with
him at band competitions and at a couple of other trombone concerts that
we attended last year. The man with the base trombone, second from right,
works with Scott's band to work as the "low brass
technician." They played a nice variety of music, from classical to jazz
and in between, ending up with a great rendition of Stardust.
