March 2005
Yesterday was a long day of travel, across the country to St. Augustine.
On my way over a bridge to St. Augustine Beach, I noticed the old lighthouse
over to the left, so I drove over to check it out. This is a hand-hld
photo out the window of my car, a bit after midnight this morning. I
like the way it turned out, and look forward to getting some daylight
pictures of th structure soon. I've heard that a walk up to the lamp
room is worthwhile as well.
St. Augustine has a nice beach that seems to be fortified
mostly with berms of old concrete construction materials. Lots of interesting
birds, including royal terns and two different types of gulls: one
with some light brown feathers highlighting the usual white and gray;
the other with a dark black head. Also a couple of different types
of small sandpiper-type birds. I took some photos, and will look them
up later. Saw a few pelicans and ibises flying by as well.
