A couple of pretty girls, a convertible, and the day
to ourselves in O'ahu. Doesn't get much better than this. Thanks to
great logistical planning, and an enthusiasm by all 4 of us to get
off on our own after a week of bus trips with 150 kids, we extended
our hotel checkout time, and set out at 6:30 am for a morning of snorkeling
at Hanauma Bay. Ron rented a Sebring convertible and we rode in style
around the southeastern tip of the island, stopping at Starbucks for
an early breakfast in Hawaii Kai, snorkeling til noon, then driving
up past the blowhole and black rock beaches into Waimanalo for a traditional
Hawaiian plate lunch of lau lau, rice, and macaroni salad at Ken's.
We got back to Waikiki just in time to do a little last minute shopping,
photography, and visiting (well, okay, bragging) about our wonderful
morning.
