Scott has been asking for me to help him with his physics
homework once in a while this summer. It has surprised me in a couple
of ways. First, he doesn't ask for help very often. It's been nice
getting more involved in his school work. Second, I've been surprised
at how much physics I have forgotten over the years. Despite being
a chemistry teacherI haven't given any thought at all to the equations
of motion, forces, vectors, and the like. It has been fun relearning
all these, reading through the excellent physics textbook chosen by
the high school for Scott's summer class. Fortunately, Scott has not
waited until the last minute to hit me up for help. This way I have
a chance of keeping up with him as he works through the examples and
homework problems.
