It was good while it lasted. Over 50 miles per gallon since leaving home on my way up to Bakersfield on Sunday. The 50-mpg average lasted until late today (Thursday) but dipped to 49.9 soon after this photo, as I drove over to Miramar for my evening class. The decrease is due to the many rather steep hills around our neighborhood. In fact, my best round-trip to Miramar and back home has been about 37 mpg, thanks to the steep climbs in each direction. Three hundred miles on half a tank of gas is still pretty satisfying, however. I'm sure my overall average will continue to rise for a while.
