Today, I went up to the Oceanside campus, where I'll
be teaching next semester to talk with the chemistry professor, who
hired me last August, about my first-semester evaluation. The discussion
went quite well. My main focus is on reaching more students and giving
them confidence that they can learn chemistry. She gave me several
new ideas for making students feel more comfortable about asking me
questions. Later in the afternoon, I attended a biochemistry lecture,
as part of my review process for next semester's class. I like the
way that this photograph turned out. It's a hand-held shot at f/3.5
aperture, 1/13 second shutter speed, and ISO 1600. It shows the Moon
and Venus an hour or so after sunset.
