"We hear so much about climate change. One area where we definitely need the climate to change is the national government's attitude about global warming. It would not act so California did. California has taken the leadership in moving the entire country beyond debate and denial... to action. As California goes, so goes the rest of the nation." - Arnold Schwarzenegger in his State of the State address.

I have to admit, I was delighted to hear our governator utter these words as I was driving to a lecture on climate change at the Natural History Museum (in my hybrid car). Once again, I arrived at 6:30, just as the lecture was about to begin. Once again, the 300-seat theater was packed and I was forced to sit in the lobby watching the proceedings projected onto a large white wall with a couple of hundred others.
