Point Reyes Books27 July 2002

This was an unexpected treat. Today after work (we finished around 3:00 pm), I drove John to Larkspur to visit his brother. Larkspur is in Marin County, just north of the Golden Gate Bridge. Marin county consists of rolling grassy hills, forested mountains, and a coastline unlike any other. I visited here once in 1993.

After I dropped him off, I started exploring the mountains, passing through Muir Woods, Mt. Tamalpais, and Golden Gate parks toward the coast. Turning north past Stinson Beach, I stopped at a grocery store in Point Reyes Station, which was across the street from this bookstore. I learned that if I hung around for a half-hour, I could attend a book signing by Katherine Ellison, the Pulitzer Prizewinning author of a new book about conservation and the environment.
