I got my 70-300 mm lens back from the repair shop today. It was dusty and sluggish. Apparently, the tubes had become misshapen and didn't slide against each other so easily anymore. So, when I got home, Susan was washing her car and naturally, instead of helping her, I ran inside and started taking photos with the refurbished lens. It's nice to have the camera working well again. I took the camera itself into the same shop last month, and for a small fee, they replaced the sensor, the motherboard, and something else, about which I've forgotten all details, near the top of the camera.
