CNG Fueling Station3 December 2001

If you had a compressed natural gas vehicle (and a reason to get on this marine base), then you could fuel up right here. This pump looks very much like a regular gas pump to the untrained eye, like mine. The difference is that it dispenses CNG at a pressure of 3,600 psi. One can also see the compressor and storage tank inside the green fence in the background.

Camp Pendleton has several CNG vehicles in its fleet, thus eliminating quite a bit of air pollution, and reducing consumption of rarer fossil fuels, such as gasoline and diesel.
