The extremely low tides, which have made my beach runs quite interesting, are balanced by extremely high tides on the other end of the cycle. This morning, the water was running under the stairs that were hundreds of yards away from the water only yesterday afternoon. The extreme winter tides also sweep the sands offshore a bit, resulting in exposed rocks and a stairway on this lifeguard tower that starts 5-6 feet above ground level.
